Shamrockin' & Rollin'
Happy Thanksgiving!
This weekend we are hosting my sister Becky, my brother Matt and his wife Caroline and Caroline's brother Wally for Thanksgiving. We have already told Wally that from now on he'll be referred to as brother-in-law because otherwise it gets too complex to explain and he kind of is one anyway right?
Jay, Matt and Luke just went out to brave the Walmart black Friday sales. I am happily resting at home in my warm bed with my coffee, trying to avoid the holiday crazies. Caroline and I may venture out later in the day when those 3amers are safely out of the way though.
Arrrrrrrrgh!!! (said in my best pirate voice)

Last Friday, Jay and I packed up and headed to the outer banks so I could run the 3rd Annual OBX Half Marathon on Sunday. Jay had never been to the OBX before so I was excited to show him the sights. We were joined by Kathleen & Bill, Amy & Matt, Tera, Lee & Andrew, and Allyson, John & Elizabeth. We had an awesome house about 75 yards from the water and only 4.5 miles away from the start line of the race.
Highlights from the trip included kayaking for Jay and Kathleen on Saturday, having our friends Jackie, Jamie and a few others over for a pre-race pasta carb up dinner on Saturday night, visiting the aquarium in Manteo with Elizabeth & Andrew, and a stop at the Wright Brothers Memorial on Sunday on our way out of town. Oh yeah, and I finished the race in two and a half hours, not too shabby considering I am running for two these days!
The race had a pirate theme this year, so there were pirates galore at the expo and along the course and the finisher's medal is shaped like a treasure map. They even gave out a prize to the best runner in pirate costume. Unfortunately I didn't have time to put my look together for that. Guess there is always next year!

Who could resist a photo opportunity like this?:

Pictures from the Pacific!
Caroline forwarded me some photos from Matt today. His friend on the ship took pictures of him jumping off his ship and into the Pacific Ocean, a 35 foot drop! Jumping from the ship looks like a lot of fun and it is good to see him enjoying himself since we all miss him so much. At least we know he is on the way home now, and it won't be long before we get to see him again!
He also included some other pictures of his ship and their current view of the shoreline for us to enjoy. Check them out below:
