BabyWatch '09

Well I am now past the 37 week mark in my pregnancy which means that Baby Blueberry will be considered full term whether he decides to come out now or 3 weeks from now. It is hard to believe that I am almost at the end of the road. I have been so blessed and lucky to have had a relatively easy pregnancy that the time has just flown by! In fact, the only I can really complain about even now are my heinous and unattractive cankles, which I affectionately refer to as sausage feet.

But, if getting this baby means I have ugly feet for 3 weeks I think I can hang. Plus, Jay didn't even try to object when I told him that me and my fat ankles are going for a pedi next week, whether I am jobless or not! Being withchild does have its benefits...

In other exciting baby news, Kathleen and Bill welcomed their new son Nolan William into the world on April 13th! He was 10 days overdue and hanging on for dear life in there, but the doctors finally coaxed him out and I have to say he is about the cutest and squishiest little bundle of baby I've ever seen! Way to go Kathleen and Bill! I am hoping you guys have some pointers for me by the time my little guy decides to make an appearance.

That's about all the updates I have for now, so I will leave you with some squishy Nolan pics (Seriously, is he not the cutest?):

Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell Run!

On Saturday, Bill, Amy, Jackie, Jamie and I all ran the annual Jingle Bell 5K Run in downtown Raleigh. The best part of this race is that it didn't start until 10:30am so it wasn't as frigid cold as I had expected it to be. The course was great, mainly sticking to Hillsborough St., and a 5K felt really fast after my 11K Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving day!

Here are some photos courtesy of Jamie and her sweet new camera. Congrats to all the race finishers! And also a special thanks to Kathleen for being my official jacket holder while Jay slept in!

Arrrrrrrrgh!!! (said in my best pirate voice)

Last Friday, Jay and I packed up and headed to the outer banks so I could run the 3rd Annual OBX Half Marathon on Sunday. Jay had never been to the OBX before so I was excited to show him the sights. We were joined by Kathleen & Bill, Amy & Matt, Tera, Lee & Andrew, and Allyson, John & Elizabeth. We had an awesome house about 75 yards from the water and only 4.5 miles away from the start line of the race.

Highlights from the trip included kayaking for Jay and Kathleen on Saturday, having our friends Jackie, Jamie and a few others over for a pre-race pasta carb up dinner on Saturday night, visiting the aquarium in Manteo with Elizabeth & Andrew, and a stop at the Wright Brothers Memorial on Sunday on our way out of town. Oh yeah, and I finished the race in two and a half hours, not too shabby considering I am running for two these days!

The race had a pirate theme this year, so there were pirates galore at the expo and along the course and the finisher's medal is shaped like a treasure map. They even gave out a prize to the best runner in pirate costume. Unfortunately I didn't have time to put my look together for that. Guess there is always next year!
